St1 has been named winner of the 2025 National Championship for Fruit and Vegetables at Energy Stations in Norway, organised by Opplysningskontoret for frukt og grønt, a national industry organisation working to promote increased consumption of fruit and vegetables through information, campaigns and collaboration with retailers and food service operators.

The award was presented on 28 January. This was the second time the competition has been held, and St1 came out on top in a strong field.

Recognition of everyday effort at our stations

The aim of the competition is to make it easier for customers to choose fruit and vegetables when buying food on the go. According to the jury, St1 stood out through a clear and focused approach, solid documentation and concrete measures that have contributed to increased sales of products containing more fruit and vegetables.

“Fruit and vegetables need to be available, appealing and presented as a good choice, also when people are on the move. St1 has done a very good job of making healthy options more attractive during the competition period,” said Iselin Bogstrand Sagen, nutrition adviser at Opplysningskontoret for frukt og grønt and project manager for the competition.

A result of teamwork across the organisation

For St1, the award is first and foremost a recognition of the work done every day at our stations.

“This award is an important acknowledgement of the effort our colleagues at the stations put in every single day. By offering a wider range of healthier options, they help make good choices easier for customers, also when life is busy,” said Sima Macdonald, Category Manager Food at St1.

She also emphasised that the result reflects a long-term and targeted approach to food.

“St1 is not a typical energy company. Through the Real store, we are investing in honest, high-quality food that is easy to choose in a hectic everyday life. This award shows that our efforts are making a difference.”

About the competition

The jury’s assessment was based on a combination of sales and volume data for fruit and vegetables, in-store initiatives, station visits, and an overall evaluation of campaigns and marketing activities. In 2025, the competition included two major players in the Norwegian market, St1 and Circle K.

Opplysningskontoret for frukt og grønt hopes that more energy station operators will take part in the competition in the years ahead, helping make fruit and vegetables a more natural choice for people on the move.
