Game Changer: how we report on our business and sustainability
Each year, we publish an annual review called Game Changer to give a complete picture of St1 as a company — how we progressed on our energy transition journey, how we performed financially, and how we managed our responsibilities towards people and the environment.
The annual review of 2025 brings together our Business review, Sustainability review, and Financial statements in a single publication. The Business review covers our operations across oil products, HVO, biogas, EV charging, and our new Power Business Unit, as well as the cross-value chain functions that connect these activities.
2025 highlights
In 2025, we continued advancing our strategy despite geopolitical instability and shifting regulatory conditions. A major milestone was completing the rebranding of 624 Shell-branded sites to St1, creating a unified Nordic network of around 1,150 energy stations. We also added 44 new St1 Charge sites to the Nordic EV charging network and opened our first two energy stations dedicated exclusively to electric vehicle charging.
Advancing the energy transition further, our Gothenburg Biorefinery had a record-setting year, with strong demand for both SAF and HVO diesel. We commissioned our first solar power plant, a 9.5 MW facility in Gothenburg, and entered a strategic industrial partnership with Novatron Fusion Group to accelerate the development of fusion energy.
Sustainability reporting
At St1, we work in close collaboration with our partners, stakeholders, and communities to accelerate the energy transition while ensuring transparency and accountability through our sustainability reporting. Our Sustainability review is grounded in a Double-Materiality Assessment (DMA), an analysis of the material positive and negative sustainability impacts, financial risks and financial opportunities related to sustainability matters across our business and value chain.
The Sustainability review has been prepared in anticipation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and represents an initial step towards future alignment with these frameworks. Selected sustainability information has been independently assured by Deloitte Oy, and the review also serves as our Communication on Progress under the UN Global Compact.
