Solar Energy
Risholmen solar park
St1’s first solar park is located on Risholmen, near the St1 Refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since May 2025, the facility has been supplying renewable electricity to the grid.
The park features 15,777 solar panels and is expected to produce 8.5 GWh annually, which is enough electricity to power over 1,500 single-family homes or over 4,000 apartments annually.
The location, a peninsula at the inlet to Gothenburg, was carefully chosen due to its favorable solar conditions created by the open landscape and proximity to the sea. Built on previously unused land, the solar park strengthens energy diversification and reduces reliance on fossil fuels.

Solar parks in Dalarna
St1 Sweden is planning to build up to three solar parks in Borlänge and Säter, Dalarna, with a total capacity of up to 50 MW. Land lease agreements have been signed with local landowners, and impact assessments are underway.
The landowners in the area have shown strong support for the project, recognizing the benefits of using underproductive land for renewable energy production. This partnership not only contributes to the local economy but also aligns with sustainable practices, providing an additional revenue stream for participating farms.
Sustainable development
St1 is conducting impact assessments and consultation processes with local authorities to ensure sustainable development for all its solar projects. These initiatives represent a significant step forward in delivering renewable energy and advancing the Nordic region’s energy transition.
