Supply and Logistics
Supply chain: Sustainability expertise at its core
St1, in close collaboration with our associated company North European Oil Trade Group (NEOT), ensures a robust and sustainable supply chain. NEOT specializes in sourcing high-quality fuels from global trading markets, with a strong focus on sustainability. While St1's Gothenburg refinery serves as a primary supply source, NEOT also procures oil products from refineries across Finland, Norway, Denmark, and Poland.
Biofuels play an increasingly vital role in St1’s supply chain, and in 2024 St1 opened its first biorefinery situated next to the St1 refinery in Gothenburg. The biorefinery has a capacity of 200.000 tonnes of biofuels.
St1-owned Brocklesby Ltd plays a crucial role in securing the availability of raw materials. They collect used cooking oil, fats and food waste in the UK which serves as feedstock for the biorefinery.
Logistics: Quality and safety prioritized
St1 and NEOT maintain a comprehensive logistics network across Finland, Sweden, and Norway. This network includes terminals for storage and a transport system that integrates sea, road, and rail operations.
Shipping: Biofuel components and refined products are transported primarily via time-charter vessels, with most activities centered around the Baltic Sea.
Road transport: In Finland, NEOT oversees the logistics chain from refineries to fuel stations and direct customers. In Sweden and Norway, trusted transport operators manage deliveries.
Rail transport: Products are delivered by train in key routes, such as Gothenburg to Karlstad and Jönköping in Sweden, and Hamina to Varkaus in Finland. More routs are to come.
